PanzeriManufacture of light

Looking to the work of Jurrian Schroferone of the defining figures in the fieldof graphic design in the Netherlandsafter World War II.

The manufacture of light: a tale of matter, vision and humanity The manufacture of light is a subtle art, an ancient knowledge that is renewed every day in the gesture of those who imagine, design and produce Panzeri Brand products. It is a process that combines thought and action, technique and inspiration, to give form to what, by its very nature, escapes: light. It is not just production, it is a way of narrating the world, of giving meaning to spaces and restoring emotion through the precision of matter and the poetry of vision. Today more than ever, it is necessary to review the taxonomies with which we describe the enterprise. If up to now we have concentrated the narrative on design, materials and technical performance, it is time to extend the narrative. Place, talent, human capital, the quality of the productive gesture, memory, the capacity for dialogue and relationships must be placed at the centre. These are the new points of contact: authentic and vital elements that tell who we are, where we come from, and where we want to go.

Beyond industry, the value of the human gesture resists and asserts itself. In each piece, in each luminaire, there is the union between imagined light - that which is dreamt of, planned, thought out - and the realised, tangible light that accompanies our lives in everyday places. It is in this connection that manufacturing becomes language and light becomes lived experience. The place of production, in this vision, is transformed into a contemporary wunderkammer: a space that holds not only technologies and materials, but also visions, knowledge, experiments. A journey to the centre of light, like a modern alchemic journey, where physical and immaterial elements combine to create something unique. A light that not only turns on, but also narrates and transforms.

The PANZERI rebranding project, is not a total redesign, but an evolution and system definition of an existing and already established identity. But in the context of a broader project, what we await to portrait here is the design idea of combining and overlapping a static identity with a dynamic visual system that enriches the semantic levels of the brand identity. what we designed is a dynamic P, drawn trough a grid of points displayed according to a regular matrix. Each point can be prompted for size, shape and orientation by the programme written to animate the matrix.

What has been obtained is a flowing moving pattern, radial or diagonal, whose static or dynamic applications characterise the PANZERI brand system today. Today, the dynamic generations are random and are reminiscent of the movements of light as the phases of the day and moments change, the alternation of light and shadow. The upcoming evolutions will concern the possibility of generating the same movements based on movement or human interaction.
